Who We Are

The Lions Club of Green Island was Chartered in 1971 by the Dunedin Lions Club  (Now known as Dunedin Host Lions).   Currently we have 29 Members.

Our Club is proud to be the home Club of Past International Director Tony Hanning and his wife Genny.   Tony has held most positions in our Club, as well as being District Governor, Council Chairman, a Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust Trustee, and with Jenny , Camp Mum and Dad for the local Camp Quality for children with life threatening diseases.

Both Tony and Genny have been awarded Melvin Jones Fellowships by the combined Lions of District 202J.

Tony and Genny represented the Lions of New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and the Islands of the Pacific from 1998 till 2000.   During that time he was Treasurer of L.C.I.F and Public Relations.

Tony is currently Club Tail Twister and Jenny is Past President of the Dunedin Toroa Lions Club and on a number of Committees with the District Cabinet

We are proud of Tony and Genny and thank them for all they have done for our Club and Lions in our area.
